Eek

Lily Allen's current single, 'Not Fair', appeals very much to the children with its "I think you're really mean" and "it's not fair" refrains. Allen's got a knack for the unfortunately catchy.

While the song is all about not getting to orgasm with a selfish lover.

Bring back Mary Whitehouse, I say, dig her up!

I heard it on Radio 2, it is indeed catchy. I will download it forthwith. You don't *have* to focus on the meaning of the song as meant by the singer. I like to write my own meanings on songs. Abster x

I'd never really listened to the words, is that what it's about??
I was once merrily singing 'My boy lollipop' when my husband informed me with glee what that was about...

Well, some of the lyrics are:

There's just one thing
that's getting in the way
When we go up to bed
you're just no good
Its such a shame
I look into your eyes
I want to get to know you
And then you make this noise
and its apparent it's all over

It's not fair
And I think you're really mean
I think you're really mean
I think you're really mean
Oh you're supposed to care
But you never make me scream
You never make me scream

Oh it's not fair
And it's really not ok
It's really not ok
It's really not ok
Oh you're supposed to care
But all you do is take
Yeah all you do is take

Oh I lie here
in the wet patch
In the middle of the bed
I'm feeling pretty
damn hard done by
I spent ages giving head
Then I remember
all the nice things
that you ever said to me
Maybe I'm just overreacting
maybe you're the one for me

There's just one thing
that's getting in the way
When we go up to bed
you're just no good
It's such a shame
I look into your eyes
I want to get to know you
And then you make this noise
and it's apparent it's all over

It's not fair
And I think you're really mean
I think you're really mean
I think you're really mean
Oh you're supposed to care
But you never make me scream
You never make me scream"

So it seems, ahem, pretty open and shut to me :D.

I've never really thought about the lyrics to "my boy lollipop" before, though... Oh no! :)

Listened to it properly the other day while ironing and see what you mean - also my son has taken to singing it at people when he feels badly done by. Your point proved.

Not as bad as the small girl (4ish) dancing and singing that if 'You liked it you shudda put a ring on it'. The worst part was her parents smiling fondly on.
